ALGIERS – Tuesday, 20 December 2022 (APS) – Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Amar Belani held Monday discussions with Cambodian Senior Minister in charge of Islamic Affairs, Cambodia’s Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Othman Hassan, who is on a working and friendship visit to Algeria, the ministry said Tuesday in a statement.

 

The meeting “was an opportunity for the Algerian and Cambodian sides to review the state of the bilateral relations and ways to develop them, stressing the importance of this visit, the first of its kind paid to Algeria by a Cambodian senior official for several years, in terms of revitalizing the historical ties between the two countries and promoting the bilateral relations to higher levels,” said the source.

They also emphasized “the necessity of strengthening the political dialogue between Algeria and Cambodia, notably through the holding of regular consultations between the two countries’ Foreign Affairs Ministries.”

The two sides agreed on “the necessity of intensifying mutual sectoral visits in order to explore promising cooperation fields between the two countries.”

The two sides exchanged viewpoints on “a number of international and regional issues of common interest, affirming the importance of the coordination of the two countries’ positions and of the mutual support in the different international forums.”
