ALGIERS – Monday, 27 March 2023 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf received Sunday a phone call from the Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, during which the two sides discussed the bilateral relations and prospects of their strengthening, the ministry said in a statement.

“Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf received on Sunday a phone call from his brother Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the brotherly kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi who congratulated him on his appointment at the head of the Algerian diplomacy,” said the source, adding that “the two ministers exchanged greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.”

 

According to the source, the phone call was the opportunity to review the bilateral relations and prospects of their strengthening.

The two ministers expressed their “satisfaction with the progress made in terms of implementing the guidelines of the two countries’ leaders, namely President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his brother the King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, notably in terms of launching a direct air link Algiers-Amman and the activation of the economic cooperation committee, in addition to the strengthening of trading between the economic operators of the two countries.

They also agreed on the necessity of scheduling preparatory meetings in anticipation of the next bilateral events.

The two ministers discussed several issues related to the priorities of the joint Arab action, notably the Palestinian cause and the challenges facing it, in addition to the efforts aimed at unifying the Arab ranks and recovery by the Syrian Arab Republic of the position it deserves at the regional and international levels, added the source.
