ALGIERS – Wednesday, 26 July 2023 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, has telephoned his Nigerien counterpart, Massaoudou Hassoumi, on the instructions of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to a statement issued by the ministry on Wednesday.
“This telephone call, which focused on developments in the situation in the sister republic of Niger, is a follow-up to the official statement in which Algeria strongly condemned the attempted coup d’état taking place in this brotherly and neighbouring country,” said the source.
According to the same source, Attaf asked his Nigerien counterpart to “convey to President Mohamed Bazoum the support and solidarity of his brother, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in this particularly painful ordeal for the Republic of Niger.”
He also conveyed “President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s wishes to see the sister Republic of Niger quickly overcome this adversity and return to the path of political and institutional stability,” the source concluded.
