ALGIERS – Wednesday, 11 October 2023 (APS) – The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral consultations upon his arrival in Cairo Wednesday, and just before an emergency Arab ministerial meeting on the situation in occupied Palestine, with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and held talks with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, and the Yemeni counterpart, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the ministry said in a statement.

These talks centered on “the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the need to develop a unified Arab position to act towards ending the brutal Zionist aggression in the besieged Gaza Strip, provide international protection for Palestinian civilians, and address their urgent needs,” the statement said.

The discussions focused on the “necessity to launch a serious peace process bringing back hope to the Palestinian people and ensuring their legitimate national rights, mainly their irrevocable right to establish an independent Palestinian State with Al-Quds as its capital,” the statement said.
