ALGIERS – Tuesday, 04 April 2023 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf received Monday a phone call from his French counterpart Catherine Colonna with whom he examined the prospects of strengthening the relations between the two countries, the ministry said in a statement.

Colonna extended her congratulations to Attaf on his appointment as Foreign minister.

 

This first communication between the two ministers, which follows the phone call between President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on 24 March, “enable expanding the prospects of strengthening the bilateral relations in the context of the agreed upon bilateral events,” including notably the State visit that will be paid soon by President Tebboune to France, said the source.

In this regard, Attaf and Colonna “assessed the progress of the processing of major files which will constitute the essence of this State visit.”

The two ministers said they appointed focal points to ensure the coordination of sectorial cooperation actions in the spirit of the “Declaration of Algiers for a renewed partnership between Algeria and France, added the source.
