ALGIERS – Wednesday, 20 December 2023 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, and China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, welcomed the “privileged” level of cooperation relations between the two countries, expressing their determination to move forward to intensify the coordination and consultations on issues of common interest, the ministry said Wednesday in a statement.

On the occasion of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Algeria and China, on 20 December 2023, the two ministers exchanged congratulatory messages in which they “welcomed the privileged level of the cooperation, solidarity and partnership relations between the two friendly countries in various fields, notably in light of the State visit paid in July 2023 by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the People’s Republic of China,” said the source.

This visit “helped open up promising perspectives for cooperation in order to bolster the overall strategic partnership between Algeria and China,” added the source.

On this important occasion in the two countries’ histories, the two ministers expressed their “determination to move forward on the intensification of coordination and consultations between the two sides on regional and international issues of common interest, especially as Algeria will be in early 2024 a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council,” the statement concluded.
