ALGIERS – Tuesday, 21 March 2023 (APS) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf received a phone call from his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, who reiterated his gratitude to Algeria for the support provided following the destructive earthquake that hit Turkey on February 6, said Tuesday the ministry in a statement.

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf received today a phone call from his brother, the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlut Cavusoglu who congratulated him on his appointment as Foreign Minister, wishing him success in his missions,” said the source.

The two FMs discussed “the efforts to overcome the consequences of the destructive earthquake that struck various regions of southern Turkey in early February,” said the source.

The Turkish official reiterated “his gratitude to the Algerian, authorities, government, and people, for the great outpouring of solidarity with his country following this disaster.

The two ministers also focused on “the Algeria-Turkey relations based on friendship, cooperation, and solidarity, welcoming the momentum they are experiencing under the continued interest and direct monitoring of the presidents of the two brotherly countries, driven by a common willingness to establish a comprehensive economic partnership while strengthening political coordination on all issues of common interest.”
