ALGIERS – Thursday, 30 March 2023 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf received Thursday a phone call from the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit during which the two sides examined prospects to strengthen the joint Arab action as well as the implementation of the decisions of the Arab Summit, held in November in Algiers, the ministry said in a statement.
“Aboul Gheit congratulated Attaf on his appointment as Foreign minister, while exchanging greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan,” added the source.
In this respect, the two sides reviewed the cooperation relations between Algeria and the Arab League as well as prospects to strengthen the joint Arab action in the best interests of the Arab nation and its issues, notably the Palestinian cause,” said the source.
Attaf brought up the issue of monitoring the implementation of the decisions of the Arab Summit, stressing “the importance of establishing the agreed upon mechanisms, particularly the Arab ministerial committee for obtaining by the State of Palestine of its full membership to the United Nations.”
“It was agreed to deal with these issues as part of the coordination between the Secretariat General and Algeria’s permanent representation to the Arab League,” the ministry concluded in its statement.
