ALGIERS – Thursday, 13 October 2022 (APS) – Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab partook Wednesday in Moscow in the 5th Russian Energy Week International Forum themed “Global Energy in Multipolar World,” said the ministry in a statement.

Arkab and CEO of Sonatrach Toufik Hekkar attended the opening ceremony of this forum, during which President of Russia Vladimir Putin stressed the global and regional situation of energy, said the source.

The Russian President also recalled “the energy challenges facing his country, particularly the gas industry, the development of new and renewable energy, as well as the opportunities for cooperation in these fields, without restriction in the short, medium and long terms.”

On the sidelines of this forum, Arkab met with Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Alexander Novak.

The two parties discussed bilateral ties in the field of energy, expressing their willingness to “strengthen cooperation in hydrocarbons, electricity, renewable energy and mines.”

Arkab also met his Syrian counterpart Bassam Tohme, and affirmed Algeria’s readiness to “share its experience in hydrocarbons in the field of mining.”

Moreover, the Minister met with representatives of Russian companies operating in the fields of hydrocarbons, mining, electricity and new and renewable energy, with whom he discussed “the investment opportunities that Algeria can offer in several areas.”
