ALGIERS – Monday, 09 October 2023 (APS) – The minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, will take part Tuesday at the 25th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, to discuss the situation and prospects of the international gas market, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministerial meeting will also be an opportunity to examine the preparations underway ahead of the seventh Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held in Algeria, the statement said.
Chaired by Equatorial Guinea’s minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons and acting president of the 2023 GECF ministerial meeting, Antonio Oburu Ondo, the attendees will “examine the situation of the international gas market and its prospects in the short, mid and long terms, to ensure security and stability of offer and demand in the international market of natural gas, according to the statement.
The meeting, to be also attended by the CEO of SONATRACH, Rachid Hachichi, as well as officials from the ministry of Energy and Mines and executives representing the oil group, will discuss the preparations underway ahead of the seventh Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held in Algeria in 2024, the statement said.
Created in 2001, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, on a decision taken in its eighth informal session in Moscow, became an intergovernmental organization based in Doha, Qatar.
