ALGIERS – Thursday, 12 October 2023 (APS) – The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received Thursday, in Algiers, the CEO of the Italian company ENI Claudio Descalzi, with whom he reviewed the state of cooperation and partnership ties between Sonatrach and ENI, as well as prospects for their bolstering, the Ministry said in a statement.

This meeting, which took place in the presence of the CEO of Sonatrach Rachid Hachichi and officials from the ministry, allowed the two parties to review “the state of cooperation and partnership ties between Sonatrach and the Italian company ENI, dubbing historical and excellent these ties, as well as prospects for their bolstering, as part of the agreements signed between both companies,” the statement said.

The discussions were also about the ongoing joint projects in hydrocarbons, hydrogen, new and renewable energy, in addition to investment opportunities to boost production and exports.

The two sides also discussed the current state of the global natural gas market and its development, along with business opportunities and future investment prospects between both energy companies globally, and in electrical interconnection between Algeria and Europe via Italy.

On the same occasion, Descalzi, “said he was very satisfied with the partnership between Sonatrach and ENI, expressing his keen interest for enhancing its investments in Algeria and continuing the development of this partnership in anticipation of launching new projects both in Algeria and globally,” the statement said.
