CAIRO – Sunday, 10 September 2023 (APS) – The Arab League Council at the level of Foreign Ministers, in its 160th ordinary session held recently in Cairo, expressed recognition‎ and paid tribute to the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for his efforts and initiatives in support of the joint Arab action in favour of Arab causes, especially the Palestinian cause.

 

The Arab foreign ministers stressed the proposals of the president of the Republic for the reform and development of Arab League’s action, praising the active role of Algeria and its positions in strengthening Arab solidarity.

The council paid tribute to President Tebboune’s efforts for the Palestinian reconciliation, and welcomed the signing of the “Declaration of Algiers” at the end of the “Reconciliation Conference for the Palestinian Unity,” on 13 October 2022, and the commitment of the Palestinian parties to implementing the provisions of the document within the time limit.

The Arab Foreign Affairs ministers expressed deep thanks to Algeria for its contribution of USD152.8 million to the State budget of Palestine, and its contribution of USD30 million for the reconstruction of the refugee camp of Jenin, following the aggression of the Zionist occupation forces.

Algeria is the only Arab State to fulfill, in a regular manner, its financial commitments to the Palestinian people.

Congratulating Algeria for its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (2024-2025), the Arab Foreign ministers expressed confidence that Algeria would push the Security Council to settle Arab issues submitted to it, especially the Palestinian issue, in addition to combining efforts for the promotion of cooperation between the Arab League and the United Nations.

The Arab League Council also welcomed Algeria’s efforts to ensure security and stability in Libya.

The Arab Foreign Ministers congratulated Algeria on its successful organization of the 15th Arab Games (5-15 July 2023).

They also congratulated it on its re-election as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries.
