ALGIERS – Tuesday, 08 August 2023 (APS) – Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), said on Tuesday that the army was ready to counter any threat likely to undermine the security and integrity of our country, said the Ministry of National Defence (MDN) in a communiqué.
“I would like to say that we will always be ready to counter any threat likely to undermine the security and integrity of our country, whatever its nature and scale, because it is our responsibility to safeguard the legacy of the valiant martyrs and guarantee the future of future generations,” he said in a speech delivered during a working and inspection visit to the weapons and electronic systems refurbishment and maintenance facility in the 1st Military Region.
” It is only in this way that we will be able to achieve our nation’s aspirations for stability, security and progress, and to live up to the great deeds of our ancestors who have sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty, pride and glory of our country,” he said.
Strengthening national defence capacities, modernizing and developing the components of the Armed Forces are “the main foundations of the ANP’s strategy for countering challenges and dangers.”
“Strengthening our national defence capabilities and modernising and developing the components of our Armed Forces are the main foundations on which we are developing, within the People’s National Army, the worthy heir to the National Liberation Army, under the leadership of President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Minister of National Defence, our forward-looking strategy, which addresses global and regional security issues, in particular the chronic and multi-faceted threats that have increased considerably in recent years, such as terrorism, cross-border organized crime, smuggling and drug trafficking,” he added.
“Our valiant army has skilfully succeeded in confronting these threats, thanks to the relevance of the national security approach adopted, based on a deep understanding of the challenges to be faced, a state of readiness and constant vigilance, but also thanks to the support of the Algerian people for their security forces and their loyal children, who are fully aware of the new challenges and the extent of the efforts that need to be made to meet them,” he said.
During this visit, which is part of the ANP High Command’s monitoring of the performance of its units, particularly those specialising in the renovation and maintenance of various systems, the Army General, who was accompanied by Major General Ali Sidane, Commander of the 1st Military Region, and Major General Smail Seddiki, Central Director of Equipment, received an exhaustive briefing on this important unit from its commander.
The Army General then inspected the various workshops in the facility, where he was given exhaustive explanations of the stages involved in the renovation and maintenance of weapons and electronic systems.
He further “thanked the managers, executives and employees of this structure for the efforts made and the results achieved, while urging them to work tirelessly to promote the technical support chain to the expected level, to make this establishment a new link in terms of production and to achieve its set objectives, and planted a tree on this occasion,” concluded the source.
