ALGIERS – Monday, 31 July 2023 (APS) – Interim Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mines Miloud Medjelled received Monday Deputy Secretary General of the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy Athumani Mbuttuka with whom he examined ways to strengthen the cooperation in hydrocarbons and electricity, the ministry said in a statement.

Held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy, the meeting enabled the two sides to review the latest developments concerning the action plan of the two countries’ experts in order to examine cooperation opportunities in the field of hydrocarbons (crude oil and refined products), the storage and transport of hydrocarbons and oil products,” according to the source.

The two officials discussed the investment opportunities in engineering, power generation, development of electricity network, public distribution of natural gas, training and renewable energy,” said the statement, adding that “a memorandum of understanding will be signed in this regard.”

In this regard, Medjelled reiterated Algeria’s willingness to strengthen the bilateral relations and intensify the exchanges with the African countries, notably as part of the development strategy of the two public groups, namely Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, aiming to enter the African market, said the source.

He also underlined “Algeria’s willingness to provide Tanzania with the necessary support and assistance, and to share its experience in these fields,” according to the source.
