NOUAKCHOTT – Sunday, 11 September 2022 (APS) – The exploratory works, in anticipation of the 19th Algerian-Mauritanian Great Joint Commission on Cooperation scheduled for next Wednesday, kicked off Sunday in Nouakchott at the level of experts.ž

During two days, the committee of experts will focus on the elaboration of the 19th edition of this joint commission, and will submit its recommendations to the follow-up committee that will be chaired Algerian Minister of Public Works, Hydraulics and Infrastructures Lakhdar Rakhroukh and Mauritanian minister of Transport and Equipment.

 

In this respect, the director general of Arab countries at the Ministry of Foriegn Affairs and National Community Abroad and the head of the expert committee Noureddine Khendoudi said this session takes place of years of absence, following the holding by the two countries of several political events and the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The holding of the Algerian-Mauritanian Great Joint Commission comes in accordance with the instructions of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune after the State visit paid in December to Algeria by his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazaouani.

In this regard, Director General of the Bilateral Cooperation at Mauritania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad and chairman of the Committee of experts Mohamed El Hanchi El Kattab stressed the role of this session in the process of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

El Kattab affirmed that this event which reflects “the willingness of the two countries’ leaders to strengthen the ties of bilateral cooperation,” will culminate in the signing of several agreements and memoranda if understanding in several sectors.
