ALGIERS – Sunday, 07 August 2022 (APS) – Algeria welcomed “the commitment of Malian authorities and the movements that signed the Agreement on Peace and Reconciliation in Mali, the outcome of Algiers process, to working for the implementation of the accord.

In a statement, the ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Algeria had noted “with satisfaction” the holding, from 1 to 5 August in Bamako, the second high-level decision-making meeting bringing together the Malian government and the signatory movements of the agreement.

Algeria has welcomed the “commitment of the Malian highest authorities and the senior leaders of the signatory movements, as shown and reiterated at the decision-making meeting, to working for the success of the implementation process of the agreement,” according to the ministry’s statement.

“As a Mali’s neighbouring country, leader of the international mediation and chair of the agreement monitoring committee, Algeria expresses its appreciation for the decisions taken during the meeting on the important issue of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of fighters and the chain of command as well as the institutional and constitutional aspects.”

Such achievements “have the potential to give a fresh impetus to the implementation process of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali, the outcome of Algiers process, and which has become more pressing than ever due to the current regional and international situation.”
