ALGIERS – Thursday, 06 July 2023 (APS) – Minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrahmane Hammad said that Algeria will “spare no effort to ensure the success” of the 2023 Arab Sports Games (ASG), whose opening ceremony on Wednesday evening “coincides with Independence and Youth Day, and with the signs of the unification of Arab ranks following the resounding success of the Algiers Summit held on November 1, 2022.”
In his speech at the opening ceremony of the ASG 2023 at the 5th July Stadium in Algiers, the Minister welcomed Algeria’s guests and thanked the Union of Arab Olympic Committees for offering Algeria the opportunity to organize this major event for the second time, after the 2004 edition, while expressing his delight at seeing Algeria organize this 15th edition of the Arab Sports Games from July 5 to 15, 2023, after an absence of 12 years.
“The ASG is a major sporting and cultural event that will take place over ten days in five Algerian cities, and offers an opportunity to bring together Arab peoples in the blessed land of Algeria,” said Hammad, stressing that “the values of sport truly embody living together in peace.”
“We are gathered here today at the opening ceremony of this great sporting event, at a time when our country is celebrating Independence and Youth Day on July 5, 2023, in the firm belief that this 15th edition will be an added value and a landmark in the history of the Algerian and Arab peoples, enshrining the spirit of competition between athletes and spreading the values of peace,” affirmed the same official.
