ALGIERS – Tuesday, 30 August 2022 (APS) – Algeria sent Tuesday humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania following the floods that recently hit some parts of the country.

The humanitarian aid was loaded on two Air Force aircraft of the People’s National Army at the air base of Boufarik, Blida (50-km south of Algiers).

The head of the Algerian Red Crescent, Ibtissem Hamlaoui, told reporters that the aid was part of the “fraternal relations and the ongoing support of the Algerian State to Mauritania, a brother country.”

“The aid sent by the Algerian State, through the Algerian Red Crescent with the support of the People’s National Army, consists of 75 tonnes of food, blankets, tents and water pumps.”

The head of the Algerian Red Crescent stressed “the support provided by the People’s National Army, which has mobilized two aircraft to transport the aid in the best conditions.”
