ALGIERS – Sunday, 29 January 202 (APS) – Algerian Red Crescent will ship by sea to Cuba 180 tonnes of food aid at the instruction of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The aid is made up of basic foodstuffs, such as cooking oil, sugar and others, in 22 kg packages, to be shipped from the port of Algiers.

Each package is meant to cover the needs of Cuban families for a period of 15 to 20 days.

The head of the Algerian Red Crescent, Ibtissam Hamlaoui, said Sunday that the aid was “intended for Cuba, a country that is suffering from blockade and ongoing hurricanes, in implementation of the guidelines of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.”

Hamlaoui said the operation “is an expression of solidarity with this country that has always supported us during the Revolution for national liberation, and is part of the actions to strengthen the ties of brotherhood and friendship between the two peoples.”
