ALGIERS – Sunday, 16 July 2023 (APS) – Algeria and Qatar have privileged historical relations that have significantly strengthened in the past few years thanks to the sincere political willingness of the two countries’ leaders and their determination to establish a promising strategic partnership, becoming an exemplary model for the Arab complementarity.

   The political consultations and coordination between the two countries are based on the mutual respect and trust, which are the principles of the two countries’ foreign policy to which the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, give a particular interest.

 In this regard, the working visit of President Tebboune to Qatar, after the State visit he paid to this brotherly country, in February 2022, shows the great rapprochement between the two countries and the effectiveness of the bilateral coordination mechanisms, especially as it comes a few days after the phone conversation between the two leaders on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, during which they agreed to hold a meeting.

The President of the Republic is accompanied, during this visit, by a large ministerial delegation, reflecting the importance of the cooperation and partnership relations between the two countries and their willingness to continuously further them.

President Tebboune met Sunday, in Doha, with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The official discussions between the two leaders, held at the Prince’s Palace, focused on ways and means to strengthen and develop the bilateral relations in various fields, notably economy, trade, industry, energy and technology, as well as on the latest developments at the regional and international levels.

The two countries have achieved major milestones in terms of strengthening cooperation in various fields, as evidenced by the signing of several memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreement, including an agreement on the establishment of political consultations and the coordination between the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries and another agreement on the legal and judicial cooperation, in addition to the signing of several agreements and memoranda in the sectors of Tourism, Industry, Health and Higher Education.
