ALGIERS – Thursday, 08 September 2022 (APS) – The President of the Constitutional Court, Omar Belhadj will take part in the sixth high-level meeting of the presidents of the constitutional and supreme courts and constitutional councils of Africa, scheduled for 10-12 September in Cairo.

The meeting is themed “The Role of Constitutional Revision in the Development of African Peoples.”  

The president of the Constitutional Court will present Algeria’s experience in a presentation that focuses on “the shift from the Constitutional Council regime to the Constitutional Court regime in Algeria, and its impact on the promotion of human rights and freedoms of the citizen.”

The presentation will address “the history of Constitutional Justice in our country and its impact on the promotion and preservation of rights and freedoms of Algerian citizens.” 

“Belhadj will emphasize the broad prerogatives of the Constitutional Court under the constitutional revision to preserve human rights and freedoms of the citizen,” said the source. 

This meeting “is an opportunity for the delegation of the Constitutional Court to be in contact with similar delegations from Africa and to develop relations of cooperation and friendship targeting a pioneering exchange of experiences between the different bodies of the constitutional justice.”
