ALGIERS – Wednesday, 22 February 2023 (APS) – Minister of Industry Ahmed Zaghdar and Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Al-Shamali, also minister of Labor, signed Tuesday, in Algiers, a roadmap for the period 2023-2025, in order to consolidate the economic cooperation between Algeria and Jordan.

The roadmap includes “cooperation activities and mechanisms to implement it in the short and medium terms,” said a statement of the Ministry of Industry.

The main points contained in the document focus on “the activation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, notably the preparation for the works of the 9th Algerian-Jordanian Joint Committee, to be held in Amman in June, the strengthening of the legal framework of the bilateral cooperation and the consolidation of the role of sectoral technical committees and joint working teams,” said the source.

After promoting trading and increasing the investment volume between the two countries, the roadmap provides for “the activation of concluded cooperation trade and investment agreements, the activation of the businessmen Council and the exchange of information on the investment and foreign trade opportunities in the two countries,” said the source.

It also provides for the organization of meetings and mutual visits between the economic operators and the businessmen to examine the cooperation and partnership opportunities in Algeria and Jordan and encourage them to participate in the exhibitions organized in the two countries.”

In this regard, the two sides agreed to hold, this year, an exhibition of the Algerian products in Jordan.

The two sides agreed also to “continue the implementation and speeding up of cooperation projects, and to work on the examination document includes the executions of partnership projects in various industrial branches of other priority fields, notably in the sectors of industry, energy and mines, agriculture, transport, tourism, health, labor, social security and culture.”

In the industrial sector, the roadmap focuses on the examination of ways that enable implementing partnership projects in the manufacturing industries, building materials as well as electrical and electronic industries, according to the source.
