This two-day conference will be chaired by the Minister of Justice, Abderrachid Tabi, and will see the participation of nearly 80 Mediterranean countries and European bodies active in the field of environment, said the statement.

The event will be hosted by judges and executives from the sectors of justice and environment of Algeria, as well as experts, university professors, and practitioners from Arab and European countries, in addition to officials of the “Euro-Mediterranean-Justice V” program and the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust).

This conference will focus on “the fight against corruption related to environmental crimes, the fight against trafficking in protected species, environmental and climate litigation, compensation for environmental damage, and international judicial cooperation in the environment field,” said the source.

This meeting aims to “encourage Mediterranean countries to adapt their legislation to the international framework specific to the treatment of issues relating to the environment such as climate change, pollution and the dangers faced by biodiversity.”
