ALGIERS – Thursday, 29 June 2023 (APS) – Algeria has “firmly” condemned the acts of Swedish extremists who burned a copy of the Holy Quran before the Grand Mosque of Stockholm, after being allowed by the Swedish authorities to organize a protest to commit this despicable and irresponsible act, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Thursday in a statement.

“Algeria reaffirms its total rejection of this provocative incident, committed on the first day of Eid al-Adha, and insists on the fact that these despicable and repeated practices are likely to incite hatred and provoke the Muslims’ religious sentiments, as they deeply offend the values of freedom on which the societies are based, with all what they convey, including human values,” said the source.

Algeria has also renewed its call “to promote the values of tolerance, dialogue and living together, to reject extremism and prevent any attacks on religions and all that is sacred to them,” added the source.
