ALGIERS – Monday, 03 October 2022 (APS) – Algeria was elected on Monday member of the International Telecommunication Union Administrative Council (ITU Council), during the works of the Plenipotentiaries Conference (PP-22) held in Bucharest (Romania), the ministry of Post and Telecommunications said in a statement.

During the vote held during this conference’s works, Algeria obtained “138 votes out of the 181 participating countries, which shows these countries’ trust in Algeria,” added the source.

 “On the occasion of its election as a member of the Council, Algeria will continue to defend its principles, in particular those relating to equal opportunities for access to the Internet and to benefit from the potential offered by the advantages of information and communication technologies,” the ministry said.
