ALGIERS – Sunday, 19 February 2023 (APS) – Algeria has denounced a campaign of lies by certain hostile circles about Algerian authorities’ alleged “decision” to suspend tourist visas to French citizens, the ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said in a statement.
“Certain circles hostile to our country have been carrying out over the past few days a campaign of lies on an Algerian authorities’ alleged ‘decision’ to suspend the issuance of tourist visas to French citizens,” the statement said.
The ministry “categorically denies” the allegations of this “misinformation campaign,” stressing that “the Algerian diplomatic and consular mission abroad are performing, on a regular basis, their consular duties and continue to deliver, in the most normal way, tourist visas to citizens of all countries, including French people, who want to come to Algeria.”
The ministry added that since the beginning of the year, and as part of the promotion of tourist destinations in Algeria, “additional measures have been taken to facilitate the issuance of regularization visas upon arrival in the national territory (international airports, border crossings and ports) to citizens of third countries wanting to come, as tourists and through travel agencies, to one of the country’s 24 southern provinces.”
