ALGIERS – Monday, 13 November 2023 (APS) – The ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning and the Chinese National Academy of Governance on Sunday signed the Joint Action Programme 2024 to enhance cooperation between the two bodies in terms of learning, training, knowledge exchange and the organization of joint workshops.

The action programme was co-signed by the secretary general of the ministry of the Interior, Larbi Merzoug, the deputy chairman of the Chinese Academy, Gong Weibin.

The programme provides for the organisation of joint training sessions on e-governance and smart cities, in addition to joint scientific research programmes in both countries.

The ministry’s secretary general said the signing of the programme between Algeria and China was an “opportunity to step up and enrich cooperation activities in terms of training and exchange of experiences between the two countries.”

The State visit by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to China, last July, “mirrors the authenticity of the relations of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.”

The visit, according to Merzoug, “was a great success on various levels as well as an opportunity to agree on intensifying political consultation, deepening economic partnership and increasing exchanges between the two countries in different fields.”

Gong Weibin said that “his country highly appreciates its partnership with Algeria,” predicting “an extension, in a near future, of bilateral cooperation to other fields.”
