ALGIERS – Tuesday, 18 July 2023 (APS) – People’s Republic of China on Tuesday showed willingness to carry out major strategic investment projects in Algeria, including the railway project of Gara Djebilet-Bechar and the railway project for phosphate transport.
The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, showed it in his discussions with president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which focused on a number of issues of common interest, including economic strategic issues.
During the discussions, the Chinese president showed his country’s interest in the extension project of Annaba port, expressing China’s willingness to set up one of the major lithium battery plants in Algeria.
The two sides agreed on opening Chinese markets to Algerian products and on enhancing cooperation in the field of defence between the two countries.
The Chinese president reiterated his country’s absolute support for Algeria’s membership of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).
The president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received Tuesday in Beijing a solemn welcome from his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
