ALGIERS – Tuesday, 12 September 2023 (APS) – Algeria has chaired the meeting of the working group of the “African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions” (AFROSAI) on the independence of its institutions, and whose works began Tuesday in Algiers.

In an opening address, “the president of the Court of Auditors, Abdelkader Benmaarouf, said the meeting was of a paramount importance as it “is the appropriate framework for discussing the issues relating to the independence of the African Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), in addition to the strategic approaches to strengthen the independence of those institutions.”

The meeting, according to Benmaarouf, also aims to exchange knowledge and expertise, to define a proactive and ambitious approach and to strengthen the independence of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions.

The independence of the supreme audit institutions for the management of public finances is likely to ensure the transparency and regularity of public management.
