ALGIERS – Sunday, 16 April 2023 (APS) – Algeria, which is currently the chair of the Arab League Council at the level of Summit, called on all the Sudanese parties to stop the fighting and to make dialogue prevail in order to overcome the disagreements, no matter how complex they are, and to favour the country’s supreme interest, the Presidency of the Republic said Saturday in a statement.

“Algeria, in its capacity as current president of the Arab League Council at the level of Summit, follows with great concern the developments of the situation in the brotherly country Sudan following the serious confrontations with heavy weapons that occurred in the capital Khartoum between the Army forces and the Rapid Support Forces, and the resulting human and material losses,” said the source.

Considering “the fraternal relations and historical ties linking the two brotherly countries and peoples,” Algeria calls on all the Sudanese parties to “stop the fighting and make dialogue prevail to overcome the disagreements, no matter how complex they are,” added the statement.

Algeria called also all the brothers to “favour the country’s supreme interest, at a time when the Republic of Sudan needs, now more than ever, combining the efforts of its children to put an end to the current crisis and achieve the legitimate aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for security, stability and the building a democratic and modern State,” said the source.
