SAINT-PIERRE (Mauritius) – Sunday, 12 June 2022 (APS) – Algerian hurdler Abdelmalik Lahoulou won Sunday Algeria’s third silver medal at the African Athletics Championships in Saint-Pierre, Mauritius, after ranking second in the 400m hurdles.

The race was held under heavy rain with relatively strong wind, making things difficult for the athletes.

However, Lahoulou managed to clock 50.10, just behind the race’s winner, South-African Zazini Sokwakhana (49.42).

Kenyan Wiseman Mukhobe, who clocked 50.48, ranked third.

Algeria’s two previous silver medals went to Hichem Cherabi, in pole vault, and Zouina Bouzebra, in hammer throw.

After five days of competition, Algeria has won eight medals (four gold, three silver and one bronze).
