TUNIS (Tunisia) – Thursday, 25 August 2022 (APS) – Algerian swimmers wrapped up their participation at the 15th Africa Senior Swimming Championships (men and women), in Tunis, with 26 medals (10 gold, 11 silver, 5 bronze), ranking second in the general rankings topped by South Africa with 40 medals (20 gold, 8 silver, 10 bronze).

With 10 gold medals, Algeria achieved its best performance at Africa Senior Championships, exceeding the eight gold medals snatched in 2006 in Dakar, Senegal.

Egypt, with 30 medals (7 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze), ranked third.

The 15th continental championship has been marked by the designation of the 22-year-old Algerian Jaouad Syoud as the best swimmer of the competition, with a total of 11 medals (7 gold, 4 silver).
