CAIRO (Egypt) – Wednesday, 23 March 2022 (APS) – Algerian junior cyclists won the silver medal of the men’s team time trial event in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, on Wednesday, the first day of the Africa road championship (March 22-26).

The Algerian cycling squad made up of Mohamed Medjaji, Abderrahmane Kessir, Ryad Bakhti and Oussama Khellaf finished the 21-km race second, clocking 27:06.

The gold medal went to the Eritrean quartet who clocked 26: 48, while Egypt took the bronze (27:56).

“The race was divided into two stages of 10.5 km each and we had started it well, leading in the first stage,” said Lyes Laroui, the coach of the Algerian junior team.

“However, the second stage was marked by the comeback of the Eritrean cyclists who snatched the gold.”

Thursday will be devoted to the individual time trial event with the participation of cyclists Oussama Khellaf and Kessir Abderrahmane.”
