ALGIERS – Monday, 15 May 2023 (APS) – The 9th Africa Investment and Trade Forum, organized by the Arab-African Centre for Investment and Development (CAAID), under the theme “the African gateway to Industry, Agriculture and Trade” will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday 16-17 May in Algiers.

According to the centre’s CEO Amine Boutalbi, the event will bring together more than 650 economic players of different nationalities and will see the signing of 30 agreements and the organization of over 400 bilateral meetings (B to B) between the Algerian and foreign companies in order to conclude partnerships in various fields and attract foreign investments to Algeria, “notably as part of the incentives provided by the new investment code.”

The economic meeting will also enable involving the Algerian community abroad to the investment efforts, the national economic diversification and exports promotion, notably towards the African countries, to be in tune with the country’s economic policy which “is part of the economic, investment and exportation promotion process, by ensuring all the necessary means.”

The Forum’s programme includes, according to CAAID’s CEO, the role of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in the promotion of investments and intra-African trade.

In addition to experts of several regional and international centres and organizations, the economic event will see the participation of the African Export-Import Bank, to which Algeria adhered as a member country in July 2022, a bank which will “play a leading role in the promotion of exports between the African countries and the granting of guarantees to exporters for the transfer of foreign currency,” Boutalbi told APS.
