ALGIERS – Tuesday, 25 July 2023 (APS) – The Civil Protection units have managed to extinguish most of the forest fires (80%) following continuous mobilization overnight and the reinforcement of ground operations with human and material resources, in addition to the coordination of efforts between the provinces, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning.

“These positive results were achieved thanks to the effectiveness of aerial intervention by fire-fighting aircraft, particularly following the significant improvement in weather conditions and the drop in wind speed and temperatures,” added the same source.

“Operations to extinguish the fires are currently underway at 13 sites across seven provinces,” added the same source, stressing that “the regions where the fires have been extinguished are still under control.”

Meanwhile, in accordance with the instructions of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, “local authorities started recording the damage and registering the victims in the concerned regions with a view to proceeding with compensation payments,” the source concluded.
