ALGIERS – Thursday, 23 November 2023 (APS) – The President of the Constitutional Court Omar Belhadj received Thursday, in Algiers, the presidents of the constitutional Courts and Councils and the heads of the delegation that participated in the 6th African Judicial Dialogue, held in Algiers from 20 to 22 November 2023.

In a statement made on this occasion, Belhadj emphasized “the ongoing deep reforms in Algeria, aimed at enshrining the rule of law in our country and to protect human rights,” pointing out “the guarantee introduced by the Constitution of 1 November 2020 in terms of enshrining the human rights, with notably the creation of the Constitutional Court,” said the same institution.

The President of the Constitutional Court also underlined Algeria’s commitment to the international human rights conventions, both at the regional and global levels, stressing “the evolution of the constitutional justice in Africa and means to strengthen it, as well as the pioneering role of Algeria, which is hosting the headquarters of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CCJA), in promoting constitutional justice in the continent.”

The members of the delegation received by Belhadj visited the structures and spaces of the Constitutional Court, in order to discover the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court.
