ALGIERS – Wednesday, 01 November 2023 (APS) – A national flag-raising ceremony was organized Tuesday at midnight at the Memorial of the Martyrs, in Algiers, on the occasion of the celebration of the 69th anniversary of the outbreak of the Revolution of 1 November 1954.
The ceremony, organized as part of the celebration of the 69th anniversary of the outbreak of the Revolution of 1 November 1954 under the slogan “Revolution of heroes – Commitment of men,” was held in the presence of the Minister of Mujahedeen and Rights Holders Laid Rebiga, of several members of the Government, as well as national personalities, mujahedeen and officials of revolutionary organizations, national institutions and associations.
Before the flag-raising ceremony, Rebiga, accompanied by members of the Government, officials and mujahedeen, visited the National Mujaheed Museum, where the key stages of our country’s national history were highlighted, notably the glorious liberation Revolution (1954-1962).
In a speech made on this occasion, the minister haled the major interest attached by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the memory of valiant martyrs, welcoming “the stability, serenity and development and prosperity factors that our country is experiencing under the leadership of President Tebboune.
After reaffirming the solidarity of the Algerian people with the brotherly Palestinian people “who are, in the strip of Gaza, under barbaric bombardment conducted by an enemy that trampled all the human values underfoot,” the minister said that Algeria’s position towards the Palestinian cause, voiced many times by the President of the Republic, reflects “one of the aspects of faithfulness to our national history and to the values of the Declaration of 1st November 1954.”
In this regard, he underlined that the Algerian people “will always continue supporting the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to establish their independent State with al-Quds as capital.”
The minister paid tribute to the People’s National Army, worthy heir to the National Liberation Army (ALN), as well as to the whole security bodies that ensure the country’s security.
On this occasion, the first chapter of the Holy Quran “Surat al-Fatiha” was recited in memory of the martyrs of the Algerian Revolution and of the Palestinian martyrs.
Mujahedeen were also honored in recognition of their sacrifices for Algeria’s independence.
