ALGIERS – Wednesday, 08 November 2023 (APS) – Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belaabed, met on Tuesday in Paris as part of his participation in the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference, Minister for Basic Education of the Republic of South Africa, Angie Motshekga, said the ministry in a statement.

The meeting was an opportunity for the two parties to discuss “current educational developments in both countries,” added the same source.

On this occasion, the Minister highlighted the “achievements made by Algeria in the education and teaching sector, particularly digitization, which has covered all operations linked to school life, in addition to the introduction of English and physical education and sport in the primary cycle,” as well as “the creation of the art stream at the level of general and technological secondary education.”

He further confirmed Algeria’s “readiness to develop bilateral relations with South Africa in this area and to exchange experience and expertise,” according to the same source.
