ALGIERS – Wednesday, 05 July 2023 (APS) – The opening ceremony of the 15th Arab Sports Games hosted by Algeria (July 5-15) started Wednesday in the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic Complex in Algiers, in the presence of Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane, members of government and guests from various countries and organizations.
The opening ceremony was attended by the deputy secretary general of the Arab League, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, in her capacity as the representative of the secretary general, the Saudi minister of Sports, chairman of the Arab Olympic Committees Union, Emir Abdul Aziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, and the minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrahmane Hammad.
The Prime Minister will officially kick off the Arab Sports Games after the art parade of the participating delegations.
The Arab Sports Games will run until July 15th with the participation of about 2,000 athletes, representing 21 Arab countries.
In addition to Algeria, the countries competing in the 2023 Arab Sports Games are: Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Libya, Comoros Islands, Djibouti and Mauritania.
