ALGIERS – Saturday, 28 January 2023 (APS) – The 17th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States Conference (PUIC) will open Sunday against the backdrop of the challenges and threats facing the Muslim world, in addition to the serious Zionist escalation against the Palestinian people and their sacred symbols.

Held under the theme “The Islamic World and the challenges of modernization and development,” the meeting will be attended by the representatives of more than 35 parliaments, including 22 parliament speakers, which shows Algeria’s “significant role” in international relations, especially in the Arab-Muslim world and at the international level, said the PUIC Executive Committee member, Mohamed Yazid Benhamouda.

The meeting of the MPs of the Islamic world, representing more than 1.8 billion people, comes against a backdrop of threats and challenges facing the Muslim countries.

Those threats and challenges require that Muslims unify their positions, mainly to cope with the latest developments and deal with the attacks of the western far right movements against Muslims and their sacred symbols.
