ALGIERS – Friday, 21 July 2023 (APS) – President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, granted an interview to China Central Television “CCTV,” during which he emphasized Algeria’s willingness to establish joint projects with China in various areas of cooperation.
“We are working to establish joint projects with China in all areas, including railways and mining”, said President Tebboune during the interview, which was broadcast on Friday by the Chinese channel, stressing that Algeria’s new investment law “opens up promising horizons for all investors”.
Affirming that “Algeria is at ease in its relations with China,” the President of the Republic expressed Algeria’s wish to “establish an Algerian-Chinese partnership in the space sector.”
Algeria has become “one of the biggest centres in the field of medicine in Africa and the Mediterranean,” he said.
The President of the Republic also highlighted the Algerian side’s willingness to establish a partnership with China in African markets, all the more so, he said, as “Algeria, a major power in Africa, can be a link between China and African countries.”
“Algeria has paid a high price for its freedom of decision,” stressed President Tebboune, pointing out that “colonisation is now trying to come back with a new face” and that “the African peoples are aware” of what is happening.
Referring to the historic relations established between the two countries, President Tebboune recalled that China had been “the first non-Arab country to recognise the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic (GPRA),” and “among the friendly States that helped Algeria on the road to development in the wake of independence.”
With regard to the Palestinian cause, the President of the Republic stressed that “Palestine’s strength lies in its unity,” saying that Algeria was campaigning “with certain countries such as China for Palestine to obtain the status of a full member State of the United Nations.”
