ALGIERS – Wednesday, 10 May 2023 (APS) – Minister of Finance Laaziz Faid went to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) on Wednesday to take part in the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group annual meetings, the ministry said in a statement.

“Faid, the minister of Finance and governor for Algeria at the Islamic Development Bank Group, went on 10 May 2023 to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) to participate in the annual meetings of this group,” the statement said.

The 2023 Annual Meetings of the IsDB will be themed: “Partnerships to Address Crises,” the ministry added.

These meetings will be attended by senior officials, including heads of government, ministers of Finance and Economy from Arab and Muslim countries, along with leaders of development institutions and private bodies, according to the statement.

As part of these annual meetings, the delegation led by Faid will take part in IsDB Board of Governors meetings.

The first session is to revolve around statutory issues, the activities of the institution and its subsidiaries, and the adoption of the annual financial reports, according to the ministry.

The minister will seize the opportunity of the event to meet with some counterparts and officials from regional and international financial institutions, with whom he “will exchange views on the various economic challenges facing the region, its socioeconomic prospects and explore new opportunities of cooperation and partnership.”
