ALGIERS – Saturday, 18 November 2023 (APS) – General Said Chanegriha, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), visited Friday the naval base of Shanghai on the 6th day of his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of National Defence said in a statement.
“Continuing his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, General Said Chanegriha, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, visited on 17 November 2023 the naval base of Shanghai and was welcomed by its commander,” the statement said. It added that General Chanegriha and the delegation accompanying him “received a comprehensive presentation on the base’s missions, in addition to the ships and maritime equipment it has.”
Afterwards, the General had signed the base’s Golden Book and took a souvenir photo on the occasion.
General Chanegriha further visited the Chan Ju frigate docked at the quay of the base where he received military greetings,” the statement said. He then “visited different parts of the frigate, receiving in-depth explanations on its missions, technical characteristics and combat capabilities.”
After “closely inquiring about the Chinese naval technology used in the construction of warships,” General Said Chanegriha “went to the Chinese company CSTC, a subsidiary of the Group CSSC, specialized in ship production, particularly warships where he received a detailed presentation on the activities of the company, its production capabilities and recent developments in this type of construction.”
