ALGIERS – Tuesday, 22 March 2022 (APS) – Chairman of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE) Bouchenak Khelladi Sidi Mohammed received, in Algiers, the director of the Office of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia Rania Bikhazi with whom he broached the state of the relations between the two institutions, the CNESE said Tuesday in a statement.
During the meeting, held in the presence of the Council’s deputy president Hasna Amina Messaid, the two officials reviewed the state of the relations between the two institutions and examined ways to strengthen them through the signing of a memorandum of understanding accompanied with a short and medium-term action plan, said the source.
In this respect, the Council’s head recommended the setting up of a joint working group to identify the main lines of the collaboration and discuss the modes of the their implementation, with a focus on the support of the programme of President of the Republic, added the source.
For her part, ILO’s official expressed his willingness to put at CNESE’s disposal the technical support and expertise of his institution, particularly in relation to the issues of social dialogue, social security, labor governance, green employment and mediation.
In this regard, CNESE underlined that a cooperation agreement was signed in 2012, in Algiers, between the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS), of which the CNESE is a member and ILO.
