ALGIERS – Monday, 14 March 2022 (APS) – The speaker of the People’s National Assembly (lower house of parliament), Brahim Boughali, announced Monday the organization in Algiers of the 17th meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Countries) Member States.

In an address at the end of the 47th meeting of the union’s executive committee, held at Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Centre on Sunday and Monday (March 13-14), Boughali said “I’m proud to note the unanimous choice of Algiers to host the 17th meeting of the OIC Parliamentary Union.”

Algeria, he added, “will make the required resources available for the event to be a special one and an additional milestone to the OIC actions to promote Islam and cooperation among the member countries, in line with the principles of our religion.”

Created on 17 June 1999 and headquartered in Teheran, Iran, the union is made up of the parliaments of 54 OIC member states.
